  1. Gas Information Review Proposal UNC Transmission Workstream 5th April 2007 Chris Logue

  2. Information Provision • Provision of Market Information has grown considerably in past few years • Currently approx. 700 data items are regularly published • 121 separate reports are produced • Market has changed • Information requirements may have moved on; • Some data may have been obsolete • A number of reports are rarely viewed • Some data may be duplicated • E.g. actual demand published in 4 places • Some data may be superceded • E.g. are hourly flows still required when similar information available on more frequent basis

  3. Network Code Operational Reporting Manual • Much of the UNC obligated information contained within the NCORM • NCORM is very prescriptive not only about the data to be published but also how it is published. • Pdf reports may not be the most efficient delivery format going forward. • NCORM is full of strange acronyms

  4. UNC Review Proposal • National Grid to launch a UMC Review Proposal • Review all data published on website. • Except recently implemented changes • Identify data of little use • Identify duplicated data • Identify possible gaps in the data • Review NCORM and suggest how this may be simplified to allow more efficient and user friendly data provision

  5. UNC Review Proposal • Timetable • Discuss at April Transmission Workstream • Formalise review group at April mod panel • Complete in 5 or 6 months with proposal(s) for changes (if required) • Review Group • Members required from all interested parties • Important that consumers are well represented • Commitment given for regular updates at the DSWG

  6. NG Website Upgrade

  7. Website Upgrade • Move to a ‘3 tier’ page structure • Provide a flexible interface for users • Provide information in ‘Data-centric’ way rather than reports • Front page providing prevailing information, with options for deep diving to more detail • Download information provided in an intuitive way • Reports available for commonly used info • APIs for all ‘key’ data

  8. Overview Page (Now Data) Geographic representation of data and overview of system points viewable ANS Messages:BBL Flows begin 31st November 2006_ Data updated with frequency during the Gas Day. (*view illustrative only)

  9. User Defined Downloads (Data) • Provides all Data Points to Users to select single or multiple Data Points* • Provides Data Range Selecter for user defined period start and end date* • Allows view* and download* functions to user * Provided quantity of data does not impede system performance, limitiations may be placed upon data point selection or date range if volume of data is too great to perform function

  10. Reports (Reports) • Reports are either • a series of predefined Data Items that have been identified as a set of Data Points that users commonly retrieve. • Data points that are obligated within code to be provided within a single report (currently NCORM) • A series of Data Points that logically provide a holistic view of an issue or field of interest • End users define Period for View or Download • Content defined but period selectable to maximise benefits to users and minimise effort required to access the full dataset required
