  1. January 29th, 2014 Happy Wednesday!!! Do Now: Update TOC: pg 65: Composites Compared to Polymers • Take out list from last nights homework: Look it over and discuss with the person next to you: • What type of material was most of the synthetic polymers you found made out of?

  2. Plastics are Synthetic Polymers that can be molded or shaped, and are the most common synthetic polymer. Look at Figure 5 on pg. 121: Compare and Contrast the Characteristics of each material: (Look at the Materials On pg. 64 in Notebook: List the properties that make them different from each other

Polymers & Composites (Take Notes on pg. 65) • Composites: Combines two or more substances into a new material with different properties: • Many Composite materials contain at least one polymer and can also be either synthetic or natural • One material is the binding material and one is the reinforcement • Examples: Concrete, Bricks, Wood, and Fiber Glass
