  7. Packet Protocol • Allows packetizing of data, so remote and host communications can be more efficient in dealing with bad portions of a data transmission especially using radios • Similar to other file transfer protocols

  8. Packet Protocol Overview • FCU transmit packet can be 1,2 or 4 Kbytes determined by WinCCU • FCU internal data blocks can be 128,256,512 or 1024 bytes determined by host software Data Block within packet Transmit Packet

Example of Packet Protocol Transmission Host sends request frame (Can ask for multiple records in one request) Remote reads the request from host Remote builds response packet(s) and sends first one Host will either ACK the transmission, NACK and request entire packet be sent again or NACK and specify bad data blocks within packet Remote will either send next packet, re-transmit bad packets from previoustransmission or if complete, return tonormal processing

  10. Modbus Protocol • Master/Slave protocol, using AAI’s implementation of Gould’s Modbus • RTU (binary) or ASCII available • Register map grouping based on data type (example) • 110-172 = User configurable register group • 1001-1047 = Boolean register group

  11. Modbus Continued • 7001-7154 = Floating point register group • 11001-11970 = Log period register group • 12001-12200 = Event Records • 10001-10050 = Daily record register group • Starting group addresses can bechanged by the user • All FCU data is accessible
