  2. GOALS • To discuss the roles of the school test coordinator, the back-up test coordinator, and on-site technology coordinator

  3. Assessment Transition

  4. PARCC • Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) • Made up of 20 states • Goal is to develop a common set of K-12 assessments in English and math • College Readiness Indicators • Field Test in 2014 • Operational Test 2014-2015

  5. PARCC FIELD TEST • Today’s presentation relates to the 2014 PARCC Field Test and the administration of the field test. • Field Test Purpose • To evaluate the quality of items and tasks developed this past year • Test the administration procedures • Give schools and districts the opportunity to experience the administration of PARCC assessments

  6. 2014 PARCC FIELD TEST • Components • Performance Based Assessment (PBA) – administered after 75% of the school year completed • End-of-Year (EOY) – administered after 90% of the school year completed

  7. PBA • English/Language Arts • Literature analysis, narrative writing, and research simulation tasks • Sessions • Mathematics • Solve problems, express mathematical reasoning, construct mathematical arguments, and solve/model real-world problems • Sessions

  8. EOY • English/Language Arts • Demonstrate content-specific acquired skills and knowledge • Scored by machine • Sessions • Mathematics • Solve multi-step problems, conceptual questions, applications, and carry out substantial procedures. • Sessions

  9. PARCC FIELD TEST • Methods of administrations • Online • Paper and pencil • Areas • English Language Arts/Literacy • Grades 3 - 11 • Mathematics • Grades 3 - 11 • Algebra I • Geometry • Algebra II

  10. 2014 PARCC FIELD TEST

PCSSD PARTICIPATION • Eighteen schools will participate in the online test • Nineschools will utilize the paper-pencil test • Three schools will take both the PBA & EOY • Three schools will participate in the comparability study • Use of IPADS • Grade 4 Language Arts and Math • PBA and EOY • Maximum of 2 classes per grade or subject area selected

  12. STUDENT PARTICIPATION • Two ways to participate • Take both the PBA and EOY in one content area • Take either the PBA or the EOY in one content area • No student will participate in the entire PARCC Field Test
