  2. Gerundive • What is a gerundive? • Future passive participle • Functions as an adjective • When used with ad or causa it shows purpose • When used with est it shows obligation • It declines like a 1st or 2nd declension adjective

  3. The Gerund • The gerund is a verbal noun. • It is always active. • It is formed just like the gerundive but it can only take four neuter singular cases: • genitive, dative, accusative and ablative • Translated as “verbing”
