  1. The Royal Canin Arena’s New and Improved Website

  2. Our Project • To make a new website for the Royal Canin Arena • Come up with new ideas for the Arena to attract more people of different ages and stature • Target group: Young families • Graphic style: Deconstructivism

  3. Our Target Group • We are young, some of us have children, some of us will have children in the not-so-distant-future • We want to make the place better for families • On a race night, there are actually quite a few children there. They just need something to do…

  4. Our Choice of Style • Deconstructivism is a style that we all fell in love with • The most logical choice for us would have been modernism, but we wanted to relate the style to the wild nature of the animals, and for the children. Deconstructivism is more fun! • We wanted to challenge ourselves as well as the users of the website

  5. Deconstructivism • Opposite to modernism • Dirty colors, different fonts, ALMOST unreadable… but beautiful • It represents the horses and the arena very well: chaotic, impressive, messy… It’s nature!

  6. Our Inspiration • www.misprintedtype.com • www.piperboy.com

  7. The Websites • Both websites belong to famous artists • Beautiful and intelligent use of deconstructivism as web design • Tones the PLUS Values very well • Design principles followed to the best extent possible, when using deconstructivism

  8. Our trip to the Arena We mostly used our own pictures in the whole design of the webpage

  9. Our Ideas for the Arena • An inside playground with a mini horsetrack • More family friendly restaurant • Pony rides and a puppy show • Tipping for children on the race (no money, cute prizes)

  10. Our Ideas for the Website • History sub page about the history of horse racing • Family subpage • Children’s subpage: with games, knowledge and a online horse pet • Slideshow from the Arena • Forum • Improved restaurant subpage

  13. PLUS Values • Playability: Fun and exciting to look at and travel around. • Likeability: Beautiful and cool to look at. Applies to a large target group. • Usability: Lots of information and useful knowledge. Navigation made easy. • Sociability: Forum, pictures and a sub site for the children.
