New Student Orientation • Orientation for New Undergraduate Students at UT is an on-going process (new students admitted each term at UT) • Three Primary Programs • Rocket Launch – new students • Rocket Transition – transfer students • Rocket Re-Discover – UT post-secondary enrollment option program students (tailored program) • Currently developing a new program for non-traditional students

Rocket Launch • New Students • Includes: • Students who have never attended college (direct from high school and non-traditional/adult) • Can include students with post-secondary credit or Advanced Placement credit • One-day program (9:30 am – 5 pm) • College specific (program dates specific to UT colleges) • Overnight accommodations available in a residence hall

Rocket Launch • Program Schedule (Student Union) • Check-in • Photo taken for Rocket Card (Student ID), Placement Testing, MMR Verification • Continental Breakfast • UT General Welcome • Academic Expectations (academic support services, academic integrity, etc.) • Rocket Game Show for students/Family Tour for guests (student services, policies, procedures) • Money Matters 1 (financial aid, account/billing) • Lunch • Information Fair (student organizations, UT offices/depts., vendors) • College meetings (advising/registration – various locations) • Money Matters 2 (review of mock bill, Q&A) • Residence Hall Tours (hall specific – summer only) • Academics, Alcohol Awareness, and You (informational session) • Online Program Evaluations – receive Rocket Card/T-shirt upon evaluation completion

  5. Rocket Transition • Transfer Students (regardless of age) • One-day program (10:30 am – 5 pm) • 10:30am-12pm: programmatic portion • 12 – 1pm: Lunch/Information Fair • 1-5pm: advising/registration • College specific • Overnight accommodations available in residence hall

New Student Convocation • UT Tradition • Second-phase of Orientation (occurs before fall classes begin) • Open to all new students at UT (including International, Transfer, New) • Faculty/Staff encouraged to attend • One-hour ceremony followed by an After-Convocation Party (sponsored through Division of Student Affairs)

New Student Convocation • Ceremony • Students residing on campus brought to event via Residence Life Staff; Commuter students - reception • President, Provosts, Academic Deans, Chair of Faculty Senate, VP of Student Affairs, Student Government President/Vice President, other Administrators • Speaker • Focus on academic integrity, academic rigor • After Convocation Party • Free food, student/faculty interaction, games, etc.
