  2. Orientation Student Leaders (OSLs) are a prestigious group of students who are recognized and called upon for their leadership and contributions to the life and culture of the university and New Student Programs activities. What is an Orientation student leader?

  3. Welcome new students and family members to the university • Lead discussion groups with incoming students and family members • Assist in the preparation, organization and presentation of orientation activities, materials and programs • Explain academic opportunities and procedures to incoming students • Acquaint new students and their families with the campus and campus services • Be a team player in supporting a diverse team of OSLs • Perform tasks & responsibilities as assigned to ensure a successful New Student Orientation and other New Student Program activities • Share your Aggie experience • Other duties as assigned What will your responsibilities be as a Orientation student Leader?

Positive attitude and enthusiasm for the university • Display a prompt, courteous and friendly attitude toward all • Must be a full-time returning student for the academic year • Maintain an undergraduate full time status during the academic year • Good academic and judicial/disciplinary standing (minimum cumulative GPA 2.8) • Must have earned 12 credit hours by the end of the 2011 Fall Semester What are some of the qualifications?

Must be free and able to participate in all the mandatory activities listed below: Training & Team Meetings Retreats: Winter and Summer New Student Orientation: Summer and Spring Southern Regional Orientation Workshop (SROW) SROW Skit Practice: Fall and Spring Semester Welcome Week Training and Activities (as needed) Community Service Project: Fall and Spring Semester Must be reliable, punctual, energetic, responsible, flexible, a team player, and demonstrate strong verbal communication skills. • Must live in the provided residence hall during the summer New Student Orientation program • Due to the considerable time commitment involved you will not be able to take classes during the first session of summer school unless its an online course • Must sign and uphold the terms of the Orientation Student Leader Contract This is mandatory with rare exceptions. Each leader will receive approximately $2,250.00 with the break down as follows: • Salary: $1,400.00 (Subject to state and federal taxes) • Room: $29.00 - (Housing is provided from beginning of summer training until the last session) • Board (Meals): $621.00 - (Meals are provided from beginning of summer training until last session) • Uniform: $200.00- Staff uniforms included: (1)polo shirt, (3) t-shirt, (1) jacket, (1) backpack, and (1) cap compensation

  9. Applications are due NO LATER THAN 5 P.M. on Monday, September 19, 2011. When submitting your application, please keep the job description for your reference. Your application is not complete without your supplemental materials (resume, cover letter, and headshot) which are submitted to the Office of New Student Programs in Murphy Hall, Room 102. • Before being invited for an interview, applicants will be screened based on the information contained in the application. • On Thursday, September 22, 2011, candidates selected for interviews will be notified by the Office of New Student Programs with information pertaining to the interview process. Interviews will take place September 26th‐30th. • Final notification will take place in front of the Dudley Building on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 7:00pm. Selection process
