  3. Romans 6:1-2 • When I hid my ‘sin’ from my family, my wound got worse and worse. • If I uncovered my ‘sin’ – my wound would be tended to and my healing would begin. What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? • Grace was never meant to HIDE our sin - because our slavery to sin would get worse and worse. • Grace was always meant to HEAL our sinful condition so that we would no longer be a slave to sin.

Romans 6:16-18 Slave to sin • Death • 16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. Slave to obedience to Jesus • Results: righteousness and freedom

Romans 6:19 Just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification. • Lawlessness: the belief that there is no absolute truth, there is no absolute right or wrong, ultimately there is no sin. • Righteousness: the belief that there is absolute truth and that the scripture reflects that truth, there are things that are right and things that are wrong, and there is such a thing as sin.

  6. Culture of the Kingdom of HeavenGRACE that TRANSFORMS and SANCTIFIES • Anyone can walk through the door with anything! • The truth concerning sin and righteousness will be lifted up! • The Holy Spirit will convict! • We then have the opportunity to uncover our sin and let his GRACE heal us, set us free, and sanctify our lives! • For us? • Our families? • Our workplace? • Our prayer lives for this region?

The Season of Nehemiah • GRACE THAT TRANSFORMS AND SANCTIFIES • Arise, shine; for your light has come,And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. • “For behold, darkness will cover the earthand deep darkness the peoples; But the Lord will rise upon you And His glory will appear upon you. • “Nations will come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising. • “Lift up your eyes round about and see;
They all gather together, they come to you.
Your sons will come from afar,
And your daughters will be carried in the arms. • On that day they read aloud from the book of Moses in the hearing of the people; and there was found written in it that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever enter the assembly of God, 2 because they did not meet the sons of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them. However, our God turned the curse into a blessing. 3 So when they heard the law, they excluded all foreigners from Israel.
