  3. The Pilgrims • They were the first Americans to celebrate Thanksgivings • They sailed across in the Mayflower on September 6 , 1620

  4. Thanksgivings facts • The first Thanksgiving was celebrated at Plymouth. • Roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, grapesand corn were the foods that were eaten at the first Thanksgiving

  5. How did it all begin Thanksgiving started with the harvest celebration of the Pilgrims and the Native Americans that took place in the autumn of 1621. -

  8. When did it start? • Celebration feasts were started by the Pilgrim settlers of the English colony in Massachusetts, after narrowly surviving their first year in the New World. • Thanksgiving followed the harvest in 1621 and is generally considered the basis for the modern US holiday.
