    2. Substitute Reactivation Lex 2 - SH Module 2 Purpose The purpose of the sexual harassment policy is to prohibit sexual harassment in our school district. Sexual harassment is not limited to students. It can occur between peers, subordinates or supervisors.

    3. Substitute Reactivation Lex 2 - SH Module 3 The Legal Definition Sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal, visual or physical conduct of a sexual nature in the workplace or education setting.

    4. Substitute Reactivation Lex 2 - SH Module 4 Its Sexual Harassment When A persons employment or education are threatened unless they submit to a sexual favor. Employment or educational opportunities are offered in return for sexual favors. Someone elses behavior unreasonably interferes with work or academic performance of others and it creates a hostile environment. Employment or educational benefits, services, honors, programs or activities are threatened unless the person submits to a sexual favor.

    7. Substitute Reactivation Lex 2 - SH Module 7 It Is an Obligation School districts are like all other businesses. They and their employees are obligated to have policies and procedures in place preventing sexual harassment. Sound policies protect staff, faculty and students.

Respond properly Respond promptly Have actual knowledge Contact the appropriate school administrator Under the law, persons who were aware of a harassment situation and failed to respond could be held liable. Should a law suit result, persons failing to respond could become part of punitive damages. In the most severe situations, school districts could even lose federal education funds.

    9. Substitute Reactivation Lex 2 - SH Module 9 Who should you contact? Contact the district Title IX Coordinator. Every school district must designate an individual as the Title IX Coordinator and this is the individual who will be tasked with receiving questions and complaints. The Title IX Coordinator for Lexington School District 2 is the Director of Personnel. The Title IX Coordinator works to ensure that the district is in compliance with the requirements of sexual harassment law.

    10. Substitute Reactivation Lex 2 - SH Module 10 These Behaviors Could Be Considered Sexual Harassment Direct or indirect threats or bribes demanding sexual activity. Sexual remarks and comments. Asking questions about someones sexual activity or preferences. Sexually suggestive sounds or gestures, such as sucking noises, winks or pelvic thrusts. Repeatedly asking a person out on dates or to have sex. Touching, patting, pinching, stroking, squeezing, tickling or brushing against a person.

    11. Substitute Reactivation Lex 2 - SH Module 11 Sexual Harassment Isnt Only Verbal Pervasive displays of pictures, calendars, cartoons or other materials with sexually explicit or graphic content are also harassment. Their presence may contribute to a hostile environment.

    12. Substitute Reactivation Lex 2 - SH Module 12 These Behaviors Could Be Considered Sexual Harassment An un-requested neck or shoulder massage. Rating a persons sexuality. Ogling or leering, staring at breasts or buttocks. Spreading rumors about a persons sexuality or sexual activities. Sexual ridicule and name calling, such as bitch, whore or slut. Frequent jokes about sex or about males and females. Letters, notes, phone calls or material of sexual nature. Stalking a person. Attempted or actual sexual assault.

    13. Substitute Reactivation Lex 2 - SH Module 13 The First Protection Just say no Tell anyone who speaks, acts or gestures to you in offensive ways, to stop. Should you observe students, faculty or staff being harassed, encourage them to say no and to report the incident.

When someone tells you something that happened to them, take it seriously and encourage them to report it. Its not just harassment; its also personal safety. Report it to the principal, assistant principal or Title XI Coordinator.
