  3. Ignatius of Loyola Cont. To occupy time, Loyola took to reading about the life of Christ and the Saints During the time, he saw a vision of the Virgin Mary and the baby Jesus He went to the shrine of Our Lady at Montserrat in Aragon. He then became hermit, living in a cave near Mantua in 1522 After Loyola became a hermit, he spent his tome wearing rags, confessing his sins, and helping the sick

Training in the Society - For two years, you were a novice, doing theory and practical work in hospitals - In the next part of this training you had to go on pilgrimages and you had to spend your time begging - If you ‘passed’ this part, you then had to study Theology Philosophy and the Humanities for 10-12 years. - In this part of training, you also learned how to teach others.
