  1. Egyptian Civilization By: Aide Angel Rashad KukuCayland RuckerJosh Dickens

  2. Social structure • The social structure is kind of like a pyramid. • For example: • They called people pharaohs because they believed they were gods in human form. • The pharaohs needed help so they appointed a chief minister called a vizier as a supervisor.

  3. Political/Rulers • The most powerful person in Egypt is the pharaoh. • They were the political and religious leader. • King Narmer was a pharaoh. • He was very successful as a pharaoh • Some say he discover Egypt. • There is an upper and lower egypt • King Narmer owned almost ever thing. • Hatsheput was the 5th pharaoh of Egypt. • She was very successful as well.

  4. Religion/Faith • Egyptian religion was based on polytheism. The worship of many deities. Except for during the region of a Kenton. • -God Horus- The sky god, head of a hawk, body of a human. • -Amon Ra- God of the sun and lord of the universe • -Osiris- God of the underworld.

  7. Writing system • The ancient egyptians believed that writing was invented by the god Thoth and called their hieroglyphic. • The hieroglyphic script was used mainly for formal inscriptions on the walls of templets and tombs.

  8. City Structure/Architecture • Old Kingdom (2700 BCE-2200 BCE)- Pharaohs had a lot of powers. They were considered Gods on the earth. Pharaohs were buried in pyramids only. • Middle Kingdom (2100 BCE-1800 BCE) - This was the golden age. Trade, arts, and literature flourished. • New Kingdom (1500 BCE-1000 BCE) – This was an expansion period. Egypt expanded her military conquest and became a world power. • There are 138 pyramids in 2008. • A pyramid is one built of stone as a royal tomb in ancient egypt

  9. General Geography • The Nile River Valley is the longest river in the world. • Its 6,853 km long! • 2 different Niles. You have the upper and lower Nile. • The upper Nile lies to the south of lower Egypt. • The lower Nile is to the north and stretches out several branches to form the Nile delta.

Role of women • Women had to get married • She has to be at least 14 to get married • They cold sell, own, and manage private property. • A man has to stand up for a women in all legal areas. • Women kind of the same rights as the men do. • Anuket: goddess of the nile river • Hathor: goddess of love • Heket: goddess of frogs

  11. Military • The Hyksos were people from west asia that took over the Nile delta • They were associated with the god Seth. He is the desert god. • They brought several technical improvements to Egypt. • They also brought new musical instruments.
