WHAT IS YOUR LIFE?. “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away” (James 4:14). Many Choices Are Ours. Is life a mere existence? Is a comatose person “alive”? If life just fulfilling every desire?

  1. WHAT IS YOUR LIFE? “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away” (James 4:14).

  2. Many Choices Are Ours • Is life a mere existence? Is a comatose person “alive”? • If life just fulfilling every desire? • Is life about gaining “things”? • Is life to be lived with anxiety without relief? • Eccl. 6:12 – “Who knows what is good…?” • John 8:12 – “I am the light of life…”

  3. Life Is A Gift • Gen. 1:26-28; Zech. 12:1 • Acts 17:25;Eccl. 12:7 • We hold it dear, but we didn’t originate it. • How then should we view it? • With emotion – “The Lord gives and the Lord takes away…” (Job 1:21)

  4. Life Is A “Seed Time” • Eccl. 3:2 – “A time for planting…” • The “laws” of sowing and reaping – Gal. 6. • An observation – generally we get what we deserve. • So…

  5. Life Is A Schoolroom • With so many lessons to learn! • What to love and what to hate – I John 2:15. • What is good and what is foolish – Eccl. And Prov. • What is good and what is evil – Isa. 5:20

  6. Life Is About Building • Character, Reputation, Family. • These things never end. When the kids leave home, when you “retire”, the process goes on. • Choices remain – Conform when you can – differ when you must.

  7. Life Is A Race • I Cor. 9:24-25. • But ALL can win – a Team Race. • What if a team mate falters? What if you get mad at the coach? • The need for endurance – Heb. 12:1-2. • The Victory belongs to Christ – Phil 4:13.

  8. Make Your Choices Wisely • Many things happen without our consent – You can’t choose your family… • But many things we do choose – how we talk, where we go, to do right or wrong. • Joshua 24:14-15. • “Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the gate! Perhaps the Lord God of hosts may be gracious to (you)” Amos 5:15
