  1. Fresh, Delicious, Nutritious and Juicy Oranges from Baja California Sur A Division of IMR Inc. www.mangazo.net Click to Continue

  2. Objective • Fresh Orange Juice and Nutrition • Fruit Fly Free Location • Agricultural Report • Brix • Brix/Acid Ratio • Direct from the Orchard • Post-harvest Process Using the following topics, this presentation will demonstrate why Narangazo oranges are a superior product:

  3. Fresh Orange Juice and Nutrition • Citrus has been associated with many health benefits, including a tremendous preventative measure against many cancers and auto-immune diseases. • Store bought, processed citrus juices have been pasteurized, which boils out essential vitamins. • Fresh orange juice contains 50% more Vitamin Cand 2.5 timesmore Beta-carotene (provitamin A) than processed juice. • Freshly squeezed Valencia orange juice will stay fresh for several days, while Navel juice will coagulate (curdle) after one day. This is due to the lack of seeds in Navel Oranges.

  4. Fruit Fly Free Location • Ciudad Constitucion, our location in the Municipality of Comondu, Baja California Sur which has been designated and declared free of fruit flies by the USDA. • Baja California is recognized as an extended orange producing area of California, USA without the harmful and devastating winter freezes.

  5. Agricultural Report “The Valencia Orange fruit that is produced around CD Constitucion, Baja California Sur, Mexico is among the best that I have seen in my travels in citrus growing areas of the world---and I have seen most of them while working as a citrus consultant. The climate and soils in that area of Baja California Sur are ideal for the production of high quality Valencia Orange fruit. First, the temperatures are well regulated by the Pacific Ocean and the cool breezes that blow off of the cool ocean water….Not only is the cool temperature good for maintaining the good orange peel color but also contributes to maintaining a good balance between sugar and acid, which are major contributors to the flavor of the fruit….Second, the soils are light sandy type soils that are easy for the citrus growers to work with in maintaining good healthy trees. The sandy soils allow water and nutrients to percolate at a moderate rate through the soil profile so that moisture levels never remain in excess...” – Ray D. Copeland (M.aSc.)

  6. Brix “The total soluble solids as determined when tested with a Brix hydrometer and applying the applicable temperature correction. The Brix may be determined by any other method that gives equivalent results.”- USDA • Above is a refractometer reading of 14.2°BxRDS performed at 20°C on July 10, 2007 with the juice of our freshly picked Valencia Orange. • The USDA requires a minimum Brix reading of 10.5°Bx. • Each of our supplying orchards are thoroughly checked for Brix readings before picking, as oranges will not ripen afterwards.

  7. Brix/Acid Ratio Brix/Acid Ratio “The ratio of the degrees Brix of the juice to the grams of anhydrous citric acid per 100 grams of the juice.” - USDA • Above is a USDA Inspection Entry Summary borrowed from one of our previous shipments, dated June 20, 2007. • The USDA requires a Brix/Acid Ratio between 9.5:1 and 20.5:1. • At 16.5:1 our oranges have the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, allowing for an incredibly delicious eating and juicing orange.

  8. Direct from the Orchard • Ordering through wholesalers, where fruit is pooled in cold storage for extended periods of time, sacrifices quality and adds unnecessary costs. • Trans-oceanic shipping can take over 4 weeks to arrive at the destination. This severely shortens the life of your perishable item. • The longer fruit sits in cold storage the more likely fungus and decay is to be present. It only takes a matter of time for one contaminated orange to spread to the rest of the fruit and ruin a large portion of the shipment. • Narangazo offers the freshest fruit on the market with no middlemen. When an order is placed, the fruit is picked, packed, and shipped, arriving at your warehouse “fresh-off-the-tree” in a matter of days.

  9. Post-harvest Process • Our beautiful fruit is washed and waxed to a pristine shine, then packed in uniform to the top of our strong, attractive, and well-ventilated boxes. • We supervise and orchestrate the entire picking and packing process to ensure that our customers are supplied with the highest quality fruit available.
