Many of these companies have paid a high price for these initiatives in both economic terms and in terms of their reputations The trend amongst the industry’s top level brands is to return to, or consolidate existing manufacturing facilities in Italy, or indeed to create a joint-venture between overseas manufacture and Italian “finishing” of the products

  27. Biographies Biographies

  28. Gaetano de Franceschi The son of an Italian Air Force pilot, Gaetano spent his early childhood living within the grounds of a military airport, in constant contact with these flying machines and the mechanics that cared for them. These “early childhood toys” fired his passion for all things technological and for designs, sculptured by the wind. Gaetano’s mother instilled him with sharp creative skills, edged with a meticulous eye for detail. In fact it was his mother who worked in one of the first photographers’ studios that applied the techniques of hand finishing details on the prints. It was she that transmitted to Gaetano his passion for drawing, a medium that has become for him his preferred means of communication.

  29. Gaetano de Franceschi This love of art applied into a technological context, formed Gaetano’s “project oriented” mentality, making Gaetano De Franceschi a unique designer, facinated by raw materials and “how” they can be applied and worked, extremely attracted to metals, leather and composite materials that are projected with an eye towards the future. Gaetano has been an aircraft pilot, has raced both automobiles and motorcycles and absolutely loves to build all things that gravitate in or around the world of these machines. He is a curious and insatiable world traveller, looking forward to a future where old traditions and new technologies blend together, and with this concept he breathes life into and all of his designs
