  1. Think of a time when you had to persuade someone to see the movie you wanted to see. What did you say or do to convince your friends? Your parents?

  2. Content Language Objective: To understand skills and knowledge necessary for constructing a persuasive essay (appeals and cinematic techniques,) by working in small groups to question peers about the expectations of the assignment, and to collaborate as a class to clarify misunderstandings

  3. Persuading a Director • Read over the assignment individually, and annotate for important information. • In your small group: • Each group will have a section of the assignment to examine and become experts on. • Each member will create a question about their section of the assignment. • Ask your question in your group to get clarification

  4. Ask the Class • Summarize the expectations in your section of the assignment to the class. • Ask your three questions to the class to gather clarifying answers • Take notes on answers to questions that are important to understanding the assignment

  5. Questions • Were there any questions that did not get answered? • Write 2-3 sentences about a section of the assignment that became clearer after the discussion
