Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Therefore the law is paralysed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted.”

  6. Chapter One – “Wondering” First One “God... You don’t seem to care” Second One “God... you aren’t doing much when you could do a lot” Third One “God... What You are doing doesn’t seem fair”

  7. Chapter One – “Wondering” What do you do when what you see with your eyes is so different to what you believe in your heart? All juiced up on Jesus! James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Crisis of belief A person without Jesus The ‘DIP’ Henry Blackaby – “Experiencing God”

  8. Chapter One – “Wondering” Hebrew - [tâmahh]תּמהּ ‘a sudden or alarming amazement’ ‘to be astonished or to marvel’ Habakkuk 1:5 “Look at the nations and watch – and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.”

  9. Chapter One – “Wondering” What do you do when you’re in the middle of ‘Chapter 1’ and you’re not sure what you believe? A deeply committed believer can express simultaneous questions and faith Habakkuk 1:6-8 “I am raising up the Babylonians [Chaldeans], that ruthless and impetuous people, who sweep across the whole earth to seize dwellings not their own. They are a feared and dreaded people; they are a law to themselves and promote their own honour. Their horses are swifter than leopards, fiercer than wolves at dusk. Their cavalry gallops headlong; their horsemen come from afar. They fly like an eagle swooping to devour”

  10. Chapter One – “Wondering” Mark 9:20-24 “Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth. So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

  11. Chapter One – “Wondering” Habakkuk 1:12-14 O Lord, You have appointed them for judgment; O Rock, You have marked them for correction. You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously, and hold Your tongue when the wicked devours a person more righteous than he? Why do You make men like fish of the sea, Like creeping things that have no ruler over them? They take up all of them with a hook, They catch them in their net, And gather them in their dragnet. Therefore they rejoice and are glad.”

  12. Chapter One – “Wondering” Chapter One: wondering Chapter Two: waiting Chapter Three: worship What do you do when you’re in Chapter One? Do the ‘Habakkuk’! Grasp and embrace God!
