  4. Task Activities • Sufficient opportunities identified in existing programmes and mechanisms for resourcing capacity building activities. Caption: OPPORTUNITY IDENTIFICATION • An active brokering mechanism is achieved between resource providers and GEOSS needs, through the GEONetCab project and other initiatives. Caption: BROKERING MECHANISM • Communicate GEOSS agenda to Funding agencies and resource providers are aware of the GEOSS agenda and interaction between groups of donors and GEOSS members or participants is firmly established. Caption: AWARENESS RAISING • “Earth Observations in Decision Support Projects” is a regular feature of development projects and target groups are trained in the various phases of project development: Proposal Solicitation, Project Brokering, Donor Coordination, Applications, Showcases, Tracking, and Outreach. Caption: EO DECISION SUPPORT • A portfolio of specific examples of resources leveraged across a range of user types and Societal Benefit Areas is available. Caption: SUCCESS STORIES

GEO ID-05 Catalyzing resources for GEOSS implementation GEOSS Stakeholder meeting, Bonn 2011, GEOSS S&T needs: Developing processes for matching research funding and research teams EGIDA OECD STIG Meeting Global Challenges through Better Governance – International Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation Responding to the grand challenges, a comparative study on global funding of science, technology and innovation Input from Workshop: Spell out the idea of going from the mainly macro perspective in the OECD STIG project, to include micro perspectives in the comparative study. Comments post-workshop: Write a good narrative of the background for the study. BIRTH Where Stars Are Born – M82 Credit: NASA, ESA, and The Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA)

  10. Q for IDIB How can we integrate resource mobilization in other IDIB tasks? S&T and funding – continue to use stakeholder meetings as an arena for dialogues on funding.
