Turnitin – a Tool • Turnitin is a tool that will help you to: • Assess the quality of your references • Improve your reference style • Keep track of assignment submissions and deadlines • Turnitin is a tool that will help the institute to: • Improve the academic standard • Manage assignment submissions

  3. Accessing Turnitin • To access Turnitin, the lecturer will send you an enrollment email to your MCAST email. It is therefore, important that you have access to your MCAST email. • This email will contain an enrollment ID and password and will enable you to register with Turnitin. • It is important to remember your username and the password you create.

  4. Turnitin Classes • Once enrolled, you can register to the classes that you are attending. • The class, will keep track of pending assignments, your status and the deadlines of these assignments. • To submit an assignment, you need to upload the relevant material before the deadline. • Some assignments may allow you to submit your work multiple times, to allow you to check the quality of your reference style.

  5. Turnitin Originality Checks • Once an assignment has been submitted, Turnitin will create an originality check and report to allow you to assess the quality of your reference style. • In assignments that allow for multiple resubmissions, you may use the report to improve on your reference style. • Make sure to understand the content of the originality report !!
