  2. Research Report You will be writing an expository essay, and article giving information, on a topic related to your magazine. You will need to do research to find FACTS to put into your article.

  3. How will you find facts? • Bring in any magazines or books you may have on your topic. • Use the computer in the library to look up facts. • In the library, look for books and magazine articles which relate to your topic.

  4. What will I do with the facts? • First, you need to narrow your topic down. For example, your topic can’t be the entire history of your favorite band! Instead, discuss the band’s latest CD, or discuss the latest concert tour. • Second, you need to find 3 to 5 FACTS about your topic, which will support your discussion. For example, on the newest CD, what type of instruments, music and cover art is the band using? Go into specific “details.” • Third, after you’ve collected your facts, you are ready to write your essay. Use your notes on the “writing process.”
