  2. Camera Obscura • A Frenchman called Joseph NicéphoreNiépce made the first camera and took the first picture in 1814 it was called Camera Obscura • the picture was taken by having the shutter left open for eight hours and faded shortly after. Camera Obscura First photo ever taken

  3. Daguerreotype • French artist took first fixed image on the daguerreotype • Picture didn’t fade and took less than thirty minutes of exposure

  4. Calotype • William Henry Talbot created the process of calotypein 1841 • This involves the first negative-positive printing process then making multiple copies of that picture

  5. Collodion Camera • The collodion process was invented by Frederick Scott Archer in 1851 • Allowed him to take a picture with only two or three seconds of sunlight exposure

  6. Panoramic Camera • In 1859 Thomas Sutton developed a camera with a wide angle lens • The lens was a glass sphere filled with water

  7. Gelatin Dry Plate Silver Bromide Camera • Was invented in 1871 by Richard Leach Maddox • Made a gelatin dry plate made of silver bromide • Negatives are no longer needed Dry plate camera Dry plate Picture taken

  8. Eastman Kodak Roll Film Camera • Eastman invents the Kodak roll film camera in 1888

  9. First mass Marketed Camera • In 1900 the first mass marketed camera called the Browning hit the stores

  10. 35mm • In 1914 the 35mm camera is invented • Smaller than the browning and easier to carry

  11. Polaroid Camera • In 1948 Edwin Land sells his invention the Polaroid camera • First instant camera

  12. First Underwater Camera • In 1960 EG&G create the first underwater camera • Could withstand great underwater depths • Was made for the U.S navy

  13. First “Out of This World” Picture • In 1968 Frank Borman took the first picture of the Earth with a Hasselblad camera

  14. Instant colour film and Camera • Polaroid makes instant color film in 1973 • Just shoot and print in one click

  15. Auto Focus • Konica invents point and shoot auto focus camera in 1978

  16. Electronic Still Camera • In 1984 canon releases the next big thing the electronic still camera

  17. Good Quality Pictures These are good quality photos because they are very focused and clear with great lighting

  18. Bad Quality Photos These are all bad quality pictures because they are terribly focused and blurry
