Welcome to Mrs. Durning's Class! Our day begins at 8:20 with homeroom, followed by two hours of English Language Arts, focusing on reading, writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and cursive writing. After lunch and recess, we dive into math with hands-on games and critical thinking. In the afternoon, we explore science and social studies, covering diverse topics from life cycles to U.S. history. We also incorporate enrichment activities, like speech and therapy classes. Homework is assigned regularly, and we maintain class rules to ensure a positive learning environment.

Class Rules/Consequences • Class rules are posted on the bulletin board and reviewed periodically. • Should your child make a bad decision, his/her name car is moved up the stop light. If they get to red they receive a recess detention. I have explained to the students that if this occurs it does not mean that I do not like them, but I do need to maintain order in the class so that everyone has a positive learning environment.
Thank You • If there is anything you think I should know about your child, please leave a note on your child’s desk. • Any questions throughout the year please do not hesitate to call. • Thank you for participating in your child’s education.
