  2. Nogueira School Cluster has been assessed in November 2008 by thePortuguese Inspectorate of Education Classification obtained in the different fields of observation: 1. Outcomes - Good2. Provision of educational service - Very Good3. School’s management and organization - Very Good4. Leadership - Very Good5.   3. Nogueira da Silva primary school and Kindergarten is situated in the Nogueira da Silva district (on the Picoto hillside), parish of St. Joseph of St. Lazarus, Braga. This school was built in 1973 for the population of the district. It´s a building classified “plan Centennial”. It has got seven classrooms (two for activities for the primary school, a room for the activities for Kindergarten, one for the support to the Kindergarten, a canteen, two rooms for the activities to enrich the curriculum and another room for the set socio-integration activities within the signed school cooperation protocols.   4. It has got a playground and a ring that is intended for games for the students and the community. This is a very good example of the opening and the union of the school to the community. The Gypsy students started attending the school, because several families of this race live near the school. Near the school, on the slopes of Picoto, the Housing Complex was built to accommodate about 50 Gypsy families. Innovating inspections to value innovative schools 4 4

  5. Right now there are almost only Gypsy students in this school. Most of the inhabitants of this district are families of weak economic resources. The relationship between the school and the community has been good. Nogueira da Silva primary school and kindergarten joined the Nogueira School Cluster in 2001 with the creation of this Cluster. For the integration of the pupils and to combat school dropout, protocols have been established with several organizations with social/ educational intervention (CAP - Child Support Project; CATL - Support Centre for Leisure, Watch Live Association, ...) and projects have been implemented to provide ethnic minority knowledge and to develop skills to access equal opportunities, rights and duties, to promote social inclusion, as well as opportunities for the integral growth of the target population.   7. The socio-educational intervention had positive results, several students find themselves attending second and third cycle school, and are seamlessly integrated with a strong sense of belonging to the group. Innovating inspections to value innovative schools 7 7
