  1. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick Why do we need healing? What is the difference between physical and spiritual healing?

  2. Watch this clip of Jesus healing a Blind Man from John 11 How did Jesus heal him? What actions did he perform ? Which of these actions would you expect to be used in the Sacrament of the Sick ?

  3. Draw this chart in your books, using at least half a page

  4. Take turns to find an event in the Sacrament of the Sick on the wall. Remember it and dictate it to your partner Add it in to your chart. Then swap so your partner goes to the wall to get another event. At the end, make sure you both have all the events written up.

  6. Touching, sacramental symbols like anointing, and laying on of hands, bring God’s power, helping people to cope with illness better – They bring people closer to God, and less afraid of what might happen to them. Especially if their illness might lead to their death.

  7. the sacrament was used more and more for those who were about to die, and it became know as the “LAST RITES” But today the Church makes this sacrament available for anyone who has a long term illness preparing for a serious operation, or struggling with a condition that perhaps can’t be cured – like arthritis or blindness…
