  1. Our Unknown God

  2. Come Lord Jesus, Come… • Adam and Eve thought it would be their child • The Hebrews in Egypt remembered the “promised one” • The Israelites honored God’s “Anointed” Ones • The Jews rededicated themselves until the coming of “Messiah” • Jesus came, He healed, He delivered, He taught, He prophesied, He died, He rose, He left… • When Jesus comes back as King, the world will be engulfed in war, famine, plague, and desolation.

  3. Desire to live with God • 2 Sam. 7:2 ~ He said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.” • 2 Sam. 7:6 ~ I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day. I have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling. • 2 Sam. 7:16 ~ Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.

  4. Shouldn’t Jesus have been enough? • John 7:38-39 ~ “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. • John 14:16-17 ~ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

  5. Do we even Know Him? • John 14:19,26 ~ Before long, the world will not see me anymore….But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. • If we have the same desire as David and the Israelites, we need to start focusing on the Holy Spirit. But what do we even know about Him? • Our advocate forever: John 14:16 • Our teacher: John 14:26 • Our power: Acts 1:8 • Resides in us, His sanctuary: 1 Cor. 19

  6. Come Holy Spirit, Come • The third person of the Trinity, through whom God acts, reveals His will, empowers individuals, and discloses His personal presence. • If the Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, it would seem that the Holy Spirit exactly represents His will and intention of God’s glory in our life. • If the Ark housed the very presence and power of God, if the Anointed One speaks as an Angel of the Lord, and if the Holy Spirit chooses to reside in us as His temple, where is the power and confidence of our covenant relationship?

  7. Benediction Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, 17comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
