  2. Active Voice  • A verb is in the active voice if it is doing the action in a sentence. • For example: • I dream of going to galaxies light-years from Earth.

  3. Passive Voice  • A verb is in the passive voice if the subject is receiving the action instead of personally doing the action. • For example: • My daydreams are often shattered by reality.

  4. Active Voice  • Change passive voice into active voice by removing the helping verb and/or reordering the sentence. • For example: • My daydreams are often shattered by reality. becomes • Reality often shatters my daydreams.

  5. Active Voice  In the notes section of your binder, rewrite the following sentences, changing them from passive voice to active voice . • The car is being washed by Larry. • The flowers are being watered by Sasha. • Dad’s shoe is being chewed by Fido. • Mark’s bike is being ridden by Calvin. • The ice cream is being eaten by Ms. Monroe.

  6. Active Voice  Answers • Larry washes the car. • Sasha waters the flowers. • Fido chews Dad’s shoe. • Calvin rides Mark’s bike. • Ms. Monroe eats the ice cream.
