  1. What is Community Partners?

  2. Part 1: Community Partners? • Community Partners (CP) is what used to be called the Cross CAB Working Group. • CP is a group of representatives from each of the 6 DAIDS funded clinical trial networks plus a few others.

  3. Who Makes Up Community Partners? • Community Partners is made up of 2 community representatives (voting) and 1 staff member (non-voting) from each of the 6 DAIDS Network CABs: • AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) • HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) • HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) • International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials group (IMPAACT) • International Network for Strategic Initiatives in Global HIV Trials (INSIGHT) • Microbicides Trials Network (MTN).

  4. Additionally, CP includes: • Network Leadership Operations Group (NLOG) and other external community advisors as voting members • HIV/AIDS Network Coordination (HANC) staff and representatives from DAIDS serve as non-voting members.

Community Partners focuses on improving cross- and within network community input at all levels Identify and develop programs to meet the training and support requirements of the national and local Community Advisory Boards Increase the representation and participation of community members from resource-limited settings and vulnerable populations identify and address challenges to participation in clinical trials What is Community Partners Supposed to Do?

  6. How does Community Partners Work? CP provides input to DAIDS research plans as they relate to scientific agendas, ethical conduct of clinical trials, community education and communication and information dissemination in a manner that ensures respect for community priorities and continued community participation. • CP conducts activities regularly through conference calls and online tools such as email and a web portal system that allows for document collaboration and discussion boards. • CP convenes at a face to face meeting annually, as possible.
