  4. Library Pass Rules • Bring a library pass. • Come straight to the library. • ENTER THE LIBRARY QUIETLY! • Look for books quietly & quickly. • Use good manners & whisper voices. • Use shelf markers. • Go straight back to class.

  8. Book Checkout • 1 or 2 books • Due back in 1 week • Renew for 1 or more weeks • Take good care of your library books

  9. At the Checkout Desk • Did you return your books in the book drop? • Choose a book • Go to the Checkout Desk • Be QUIET in line • Put the book barcode on top • Tell us your lunch number and your name • Remember to say “Thank You”

  11. Use Complete Sentences & Questions • Could you please help me find _______ ? • May I please check out a book? • My lunch number is ______________ . • My name is _________ ____________ , and I’m a ________ grader in _________’s class.

  12. How Books Can Get Lost • If you stop reading it. • If you forget about it and leave it somewhere. • If you let your friends borrow your library books.

  13. Keep your book on a “leash.” You wouldn’t leave your precious puppy in the park by himself, would you?

  14. Important to Remember… • Talk quietly & use whisper voices. • No candy or gum in the library! • Use spare time for reading. • Don’t lose your books, or lend them to other kids. • Walk, don’t run. • Be kind to others. • Allow others to go first.

  15. What should I do? Students that are unable to check out books for a particular week let me know the reason (books not returned, etc.) when shelf markers are being passed out. They have three options: (1) read an unfinished library book that they want to renew/keep, (2) choose a book from the "To Be Shelved" cart, or (3) choose a magazine. They must remain at their table during check out time. If you don't have a shelf marker, then you shouldn't be roaming the library!

  16. Stand up, push chairs in, and stand behind chairs. If the class has a line leader, that student will line up at the door. Then I will dismiss by tables, looking for tables with quiet students that have everything picked up. Exiting Library
