Spring 2004WEBSF Founded By Roger Cole Managing Director of a Structural Steel Fabricating Company, Snooker Coach & former Semi-Professional Player was at the time promoting snooker tournaments for Under 19’s in Plymouth & Exeter Steve Canniford Principal Engineer with a Local Authority, Billiards & Snooker Coach and County Player was at the time developing a Billiards & Snooker Coaching & Assessment Scheme for Devon

  3. Summer 2004 Ray Reardon (Six Times World Professional Snooker Champion) became Patron The WEBSF Management Team (15 volunteers all committed to the cause)

  4. Mission Statement To facilitate participation and learning in the sport of English Billiards & Snooker for Children and Adults Providing guidance, development, enjoyment and the realisation of potential for all

September 2004 • Ray Reardon kindly donated his time at the official launch of the WEBSF at the Victoria Snooker Centre, Plymouth • Over 100 representatives from around the region including the Press, Officials from the Devon & Cornwall Snooker Associations & Leagues, Referees Association and Players attended • WEBSF received National Governing Body Approval

Achievements in first 5 years • Child Protection Policy • Policy & Structure document • Tournament Structure & Rules • Implemented a WEBSF Coaches Development & Assessment Scheme • All Coaches attended Coaching Children & Young People Workshops & CRB Checked • Written a Coaching Manual • Produced Lesson Plans, Training Programmes, Player Assessment & Accreditation that link to the Coaching Manual Cont’d

  14. National Tournaments A number of our players travel the country to play in National and International tournaments on a regular basis Even though they compete as individuals the friendship and camaraderie they have established as members of the WEBSF bonds them into a team

Short Term Vision • Obtain funding through donations & sponsorship for players and the foundation • Expand tournaments to more towns within the region • Recruit more Coaches and Volunteers • Further develop the WEBSF Coaching Scheme with National Governing Body • Obtain national recognition for the WEBSF Coaching Scheme • Work with Schools re Literacy & Numeracy • Take teams to play Leagues/Clubs outside of the region • Promote Billiards & Snooker via the promotion of top Snooker events in the region

Long Term Vision • Role out the WEBSF format to other regions around the country • Work with the NGB to develop grass roots Billiards & Snooker • Help establish an Educational Sports Academy for Cue Sports in the region • Develop inter regional competition • Establish partnerships with Schools, Colleges & and the Business Sector • Obtain International recognition for the WEBSF Coaching Scheme
