There’s lots of scary weapons out there Smithers. However, the big one that people know and fear is the Atomic Bomb!. Sir? Everyone keeps complaining about “Weapons of Mass Destruction.” What does that mean? Are they talking about poison, mines, rockets, or just really big guns?.

  1. There’s lots of scary weapons out there Smithers. However, the big one that people know and fear is the Atomic Bomb! Sir? Everyone keeps complaining about “Weapons of Mass Destruction.” What does that mean? Are they talking about poison, mines, rockets, or just really big guns?

  3. Wait a second, I thought we were talking about atomic bombs. What the heck is a nuke?

  4. Atomic bombs are a type of nuclear weapon. The name denotes that a reaction is taking place at a sub-atomic level in the nucleus of a cell.

  5. ??? What?

  6. Hmmm, you seem lost already. Let’s slow down a bit and explain what this bomb is and where it comes from.

  8. THE HISTORY The Manhattan Project: In the late 1930s, in response to Nazi Germany's development projects the United States began looking into the construction of a nuclear weapon

  9. THE HISTORY The Manhattan Project: In order to further the research effort the U.S. helped Jewish Austrian scientist Albert Einstein escape from Nazi Germany

  10. THE HISTORY The Manhattan Project: In December of 1941 Dr. J Robert Oppenheimer of the University of California was put in charge of finding a way to create a nuclear weapon

  13. THE HISTORY The Manhattan Project: On July 16, 1945 the first nuclear bomb was tested. That test is known as "Trinity." It clearly showed the awesome power of the new weapon.

  14. THE HISTORY Nobody tells me anything… The Manhattan Project: Meanwhile, new U.S. president Harry S. Truman had just recently been informed that the Manahattan Project even existed.

  16. I say we drop the bomb! After all, that’s war. People are going to die. Maybe when they see this awesome weapon they’ll surrender.

  17. But dropping the bomb means that all of the innocent people nearby will be burnt alive. It’s just not right!

  47. So, where have they stuck all of these bombs? Who has them?
