The Clean Air Act (CAA)

The Clean Air Act (CAA) of 1963, amended in 1965, 1970, 1977, and 1990, aims to establish National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) to protect public health and the environment. The act regulates emissions of air pollutants to ensure cleaner air and prevent atmospheric damage. Enforcement of the CAA is primarily the responsibility of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which defines and upholds the NAAQS to mitigate air pollution and safeguard public welfare.
