They immigrated to the United States in the 1930’s. They fled Germany for religious freedom, and spoke no English upon entering the new country. The status of Germany was very insecure for the Mohring’s, which enticed them to search for better options. • Introduction sentence= interestingly introduce family name {Mohring comes from Northern Germany from a town called Moringen • 1st sentence= 1st paragraph detail {Family ethnicity/immigration} • 2nd sentence = 2nd paragraph detail {religion} • 3rd sentence= 3rd paragraph detail {language} • Conclusion sentence= leads into the next paragraph

They were judged for their religious beliefs, and did not agree with the philosophies of the Nazi party. They decided to flee the country to maintain their moral values, which believe that all men are equal. The Mohring family was not a wealthy family, and hoped that through their move, they would secure a better life for their future generations. They prayed that their life in American would always protect their religious beliefs. • Intro sentence= immigration from Germany. • 1st detail= Religious freedom • 2nd detail= Didn’t believe in Nazi beliefs • 3rd detail= Wanted to secure a better life • Conclusion= lead into the 2nd paragraph

They immigrated from German in 1935, in search for a better life. Their strong Catholic faith encouraged them to seek a country that did not discriminate against anyone’s religious views. Mohrings spoke German, but quickly learned the English language to fit in with their English-speaking community.
