The Solar X-ray Imager (SXI) Archive at NGDC provides real-time X-ray images from the sun, instantly accessible to the public. This system merges live data with a comprehensive archive, allowing users to access all SXI data from a single interface. Following the launch of GOES-M on July 23, 2001, SXI delivered over 100,000 images available online. Solar X-ray ImagerArchive and Public Interface NGDC receives SXI images in real time, and instantly provides them to the public. This merging of real time access with retrospective archive access provides the data users with a single point of access for all SXI data. Solar X-ray Imager: Launch & First Released Image GOES-M launched July 23, 2001. SXI was launched from the Kennedy Space Center as an integral part of the GOES-M satellite. Upon reaching synchronous orbit, GOES-M was renamed GOES-12.
