2011 Higgs Analysis Accomplishments: Vertexing, Displaced Muon Jets, and Trigger Developments

In 2011, significant progress was made in the analysis of Higgs decays to displaced muons. The analysis, focusing on the muon spectrometer, included the study of Higgs → πνπν decays and led to results now accepted for publication in Physical Review Letters (PRL) in March 2012. New vertexing algorithms were implemented, requiring at least one reconstructed vertex and aiding in background reduction. Collaboration efforts and trigger enhancements were vital for improved event handling, with follow-up meetings planned for April 2012 in Cosenza.

  1. 2011 Accomplishments • Two Analysis completed • Higgs  πv πv  • Accepted for publication in PRL March 2012 • The analysis focused on the muon spectrometer and required that both πv’s decay in the MS • Made use of vertexing algorithm and required at least one reconstructed vertex • Displaced muon jets from light Higgs decays to dark photons • PLB draft currently awaiting final editorial board approval after which it moves to collaboration review H V Group Meeting - Planning for 2012 Cosenza 26,27 April 2012
