  1. Small Business Innovation Research The Regenerated Diesel Engine The ReJen Company Bishop, CA INNOVATION A reciprocating internal combustion engine operating on a regenerated cycle • ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Several designs have been developed and components tested, preliminary to the fabrication and testing of a technology demonstrator engine • Analyses indicate exceptional fuel efficiency, very high Brake Mean Effective Pressure (BMEP) with low peak cylinder pressures, and the potential for reduced emissions The Regenerated Barrel Cam Aircraft Engine • COMMERCIALIZATION • Continuing R&D under several commercial and U.S. government (NASA & Navy) contracts • Joint venture arranged with Alvin Lowi & Assoc. for development of a barrel cam version of this engine • Strategic partnership developed with Caterpillar, Inc. • On-going R&D and patent development financial and technical support from Caterpillar, Inc. • GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS • Potential use for general aviation aircraft propulsion and shipboard power generation. Other government stationary power generation and vehicular propulsion applications are also feasible • Potential commercial applications include stationary power generation, truck and automotive, ship propulsion, and earthmoving equipment Glenn Research Center Aeronautics 3-083 1994 Phase II, NAS3-27841, 2/02 NASA Contact – Bruce Bream Company Contact – Allan Ferrenberg
