SmallBusinessTechnologyTransfer INNOVATION Low-Cost, Solid-State Air Data AHRS Seagull Technology & Stanford University Los Gatos, CA Attitude & Heading Reference System (AHRS) using solid-state inertial and magnetic sensors, enhanced by GPS, provides an accurate, high-integrity, low-cost solution • ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Pre-Production AHRS units that meet FAA required performance accuracy • Patents pending on methods to effectively use low-cost sensors • Includes embedded Air Data Module for airspeed & altitude • Successful flight tests on Bonanza, Piper Dakota, Beech Queen Air, and Saratoga • COMMERCIALIZATION • Prototype units sold to experimental aircraft & provided to potential commercialization partners • Dedicated Commercial Products Business Unit created to develop and market AHRS • Matching funding for commercialization activities received from State of California Technology Investment Partnership (CalTIP) • 6 jobs created in engineering, marketing, and production • Technology useful for other modes of transportation and outdoor machinery Air Data Attitude and Heading Reference System • GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS • A low-cost, high performance AHRS is fundamental in enabling the advanced intuitive displays and affordable avionics necessary to support GA revitalization efforts. Seagull’s AHRS provides all aircraft state information at the accuracy and update rates needed for a GA Highway-in-the-Sky (HITS) display. Seagull is in the AGATE HITS development ream.
