THEMIS • MISSION PRE-ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW • PCA EGSE • David Curtis • University of California - Berkeley
PCA EGSE • The PCA EGSE interfaces to the THEMIS probes when they are on the Probe Carrier • JPL, ASO, Launch Pad (Blockhouse) • Harnessing connects the PCA EGSE to individual probes, the PCA, or the blockhouse connectors • The PCA EGSE uses an existing Umbilical Rack to provide power (battery charging) and monitor the probe discretes (one probe at a time) • PCA EGSE Includes Battery over-charge protection • The PCA EGSE includes a PTP and ITOS workstation to provide command and telemetry interface to a selected probe • The PCA EGSE can be run remotely from the MOC • Important for launch day

PCA EGSE STATUS • PCA EGSE is built and tested • Software is complete • except for software backup of battery over-charging protection • Has been tested with probes at UCB • Will be tested with PCA at JPL prior to installation of probes • Safe to mate • First end to end test including blockhouse harness
