Why Social Media? • Helps people connect more quickly, Improves efficiency, accessibility, offers differentiation and translation, different points of contact, stakeholder buy in, long-term revenue, environmental impact and decreased costs on paper, allows younger people to be involved, immediate revenue, PR, exposure, built-in network Primary Social Media Tools discussed today: Skype Facebook Youtube Twitter Blogs VlogsIntagramLinkedin

Best Practices • Decide what you want to accomplish • Clearly articulate objectives in group pages • Keep it simple and fun • Cultural Awareness: • Can I share your information/story? • Is the ministry site safe to post? • Does my information translate cross-culturally? • Know your audience- who are your stakeholders? • Remember social media is not for social media sake. It is a tool to be used for the greater purpose. Don’t be consumed with the technology. “Don’t major on the minors.” • Start with creating a facebook group page.
