In Book 5, we explore the concept of open syllables, which consist of a single vowel that remains unclosed. Building on knowledge from previous books, where we combined closed and v-c-e syllables, we now learn to blend open syllables with both closed and v-e syllables. Important rules for syllable division remain unchanged; a single consonant between two vowels may either close the first syllable or be attached to the second. Mastering this flexibility in reading will enhance our understanding of word structure.
