  2. Feature Overview : Objectives • Outline the Quadro Feature Set • Introduce the Quadro Internet Features • Introduce the Quadro PBX Features

  3. Quadro Feature Summary The Quadro product line is extremely feature rich, bringing together in one device • A flexible network router • A powerful firewall • A VPN for secure data and voice exchange • A fully-featured PBX The Quadro acts as a gateway by bridging traditional PSTN network calls onto the Internet. The call relay capability greatly expands the users’ options by allowing the Quadro to act as a long distance bridge between any phone in the local PSTN network to any phone located in a remote PSTN network.

  4. Quadro Internet Features NAT (Network Address Translation) • Allows many LAN side private IP addresses to have internet access by sharing a single public IP address • It uses different port numbers to distinguish each connection • It dynamically creates a table of connections and keeps track of them • It protects the private LAN from outside attacks

  5. Quadro Internet Features DHCP – (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) • The built-in DHCP server is used to dynamically allocate and assign IP addresses on the LAN side • Devices attached on the LAN side, which have DHCP enabled will request an IP address from the Quadro • The current DHCP leases can be viewed in the LAN services menu STUN – (Simple Traversal of User Datagram Protocol (UDP) Through Network Address Translators) • Discovers the presence and type of a NAT, thus allowing SIP messages to pass through a NATing device • Requires no changes to existing NATs • Works with cascaded NATs

  6. Quadro Internet Features Firewall • Is used to protect a networked server or a client machine from unauthorized users • Allows or blocks traffic based on policies, services and/or IP addresses • Has several levels of security policies (low, medium, high) • Allows creating additional service-based rules • Supports filtering rules independent from the selected firewall security level • Quadro automatically opens ports for integrated services

  7. Quadro Internet Features IDS – (Intrusion Detection System) Firewall • Creates an additional layer of security by deleting packets containing intrusion attacks • Creates a log file with information about the packet. The log can be viewed on the IDS Log page or a notification can be sent via e-mail, flashing LED and/or display notification

  8. Quadro Internet Features VPN – (Virtual Private Network) • Establishes a connection between two local networks (intranets) over a secure internet connection • Manages authentication between servers and clients and handles data encryption for the connection • Includes authentication and encryption to protect data integrity and confidentiality

  9. Quadro Internet Features IPSEC - (IP Security) • Is a type of VPN connection that uses a pair of keys to encrypt/decrypt transmitted data. PPTP – (Point-to-Point Tunnelling Protocol) • Ensures secure transmission from one VPN to another • Allows users to dial into their network via the Internet • PPTP tunnels can be combined with integrated IP routing L2TP- (Layer 2 Tunnelling Protocol) • Is an extension to the PPP protocol that enables ISP's to operate VPNs • Merges the best features of PPTP and L2F • L2TP tunnels can be combined with integrated IP routing

  10. Quadro Internet Features DNS (Domain Name System) Server • Fully featured DNS Server for LAN side devices to translate domain names to an IP address. DNS Support with Third Party (Dynamic DNS) • When used with a third party service a DNS address (ie. www.myquadro.com) may be used when a dynamic IP address has been assigned to access the internet. SNTP – (Simple Network Time Protocol) Server/Client • Synchronizes the computer clock via the Internet • Client: Gets the time from the SNTP server (e.g., ntp1.epygi.com) • Server: Provides the time for all the clients within the LAN

  11. Quadro Internet Features IP DIFFSERV for QoS (Quality of Service) • The TOS (Type of Service) bits in the IP headers can be used to set the correct service level required for network traffic. • Conforms to the DIFFSERV protocol Port Forwarding/Port Translation • Provides services on hosts in LAN/WAN to be accessible via the Quadro’s IP address • Port translation allows a port number that is accessed via the WAN to be converted to a different port to access a different service on the LAN Port. (ie. 212.126.220.114:8080 -> 10.30.0.5:80)

  12. Quadro Internet Features PPPoE - (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet) • Common specification for connecting users on an Ethernet to the Internet through a common broadband medium

  13. Quadro PBX Features Auto Attendant • Prompts incoming callers to input the intended destination and then routes the call accordingly. • IP, PSTN and extensions can be routed to the Auto Attendant and directed according to local dialing plans. • Multiple Auto Attendants can be provisioned. Call Relay • Enables callers to call into a remote Quadro and make a local call at that office. • Allows a person to make a local call into a Quadro and then call to a remote location. • Is a powerful tool to take advantage of the free or low costs of making IP calls.

  14. Quadro PBX Features Extensions Directory • A table that matches peoples names with all the extensions and virtual extensions present on the Quadro. This “virtual” operator allows callers to enter a name using the keypad on their phone and then to be routed to an extension. Call Routing • Routes calls locally to extensions, IP phones, ITSPs, PSTN. • Filtering and rewriting based on call source information. • Call routing rules based on the time of day. • Backup routes to allow failover to PSTN. • Longest match algorithm to allow flexible call routing plans.

  15. Quadro PBX Features Call Statistics • Provides information on successful, non-successful and missed incoming and outgoing calls (Call Detail Records, CDR). • Collects call events on the Quadro and allows the records to be searched using various criteria. • Support of Radius Client to send the CDRs to a Radius server. Speed Calling • Offers a personal address book for every Quadro user. A user defined 2 digit number can be assigned to any destination phone number. Outgoing/Incoming Call Blocking • Allows calls to be blocked based on the dialed number or the incoming caller ID.

  16. Quadro PBX Features Distinctive Ringing • Allows a specific ringing pattern for particular callers. Call Forwarding • Allows transferring a call to another destination • Unconditionally • When an extension is busy • When an extension is unanswered. • Allows the forwarding rule based on the caller ID. • Enabling/Disabling the unconditional call forwarding can be done using a feature code.

  17. Quadro PBX Features Many Extension Ringing • Allows incoming calls to ring several extensions simultaneously.

  18. Quadro PBX Features Voice Mail • A brief message that external users can leave for Quadro users when a call is not answered. • Initial VM setup via phone. A wizard that starts when users enter the voicemail for the first time, and helps them to set up their voicemail greeting, username recording and the extension password. • Zero out. This gives a caller the option to dial “0” while listening to a voice mail greeting to have the call redirected to another destination, like a cell phone. • VM forwarding by mail. Recorded voice messages can be automatically forwarded to email accounts. • VM forwarding by handset. When listening to VMs, the message can be forwarded to multiple destinations by using the keypad.

  19. Quadro PBX Features Voice Mail(Continued) • Call back. When listening to VM, the calling person can be called back. (If callerID is present) • Remote access via Auto Attendant. Allows to dial into the Quadro and use the VM system. • Direct access from the outside. Allows to access the voice mailbox by a direct call to the extension. • Voice mail notification can be received from the Quadro using SMS to send the notice to a cell phone. • Storing VM to External VM Servers. Allows voice mails to be stored on external hosted servers and provide phone indication of stored mails and the ability to manipulate the hosted service from the phone.

  20. Quadro PBX Features Do Not Disturb • Allows users to suppress ringing for a predefined time. Off-Hook CallerID • Display the caller ID in case of call waiting. Call Transfer • Allows transferring of a call to another extension / party. With or without consultation. Voicemail Transfers • Allows transferring a caller directly to the voicemail of another user.

  21. Quadro PBX Features Hotline Settings • Allows a call to be routed to a given number as soon as the handset is lifted, without having to dial any digits.

  22. Quadro PBX Features Call Park • Allows an incoming call to be temporarily “parked” and then to be picked up from another extension. • Several call parking extensions may be configured. • Can be used from IP Phones. Autoredial • Allows users to automatically redial the last number if it was busy. Call Back • Allows to call back the last caller.

  23. Quadro PBX Features Hold Music • Music that is played to a party that is on hold. The hold music can be uploaded to the system. Hunt Grouping • Specifies a set of sequential numbers to call when a users phone is dialled. Call Pickup • Using a virtual extension, a call pickup group may be defined that contains a group of extensions. A person may answer a call to one of these extensions by dialling the virtual extension for that call pick up group.

  24. Quadro PBX Features Call Conference • Allows a 3 way conference. Conference participants which are using a Quadro may expand the conference by using the conferencing function in parallel. T.38 Fax • A protocol that some carriers use to handle fax over SIP.

  25. Quadro PBX Features Unified Messaging /Unified Fax Messaging • Standard protocol that allows to handle different communication protocols (ie: voicemail, fax, SMS, IM). Fax Relay • Relay a fax between different interfaces (SIP↔FXO, FXO↔FXS, SIP↔FXS) Receptionist Call Queue • Incoming calls are held in a queue and hear a customized message while the receptionist is on a call. After each call is finished the next call in queue is presented to the receptionist. If the receptionist does not answer, the queued calls can go to a voicemail or to a forwarding extension.

  26. Quadro PBX Features Simultaneous Ring • While covering several managers' extensions, a receptionist's phone will ring simultaneously with each extension, showing which manager is being called, and show the caller ID. Extension Status • The receptionist watching multiple managers' phones will get information on the called extension's status (off-hook, on-hook, do-not-disturb) before taking action. Kickback • Allows calls to be kicked back to the receptionist automatically if they are not answered after being transferred.

  27. Quadro PBX Features Paging • Allows paging a group of extensions by forcing extensions to go off-hook and opening one-way communication. The service is particularly used for announcements addressed to a group of extensions.
