Meetings • French Honor Society meetings are held on last Thursday of every month at Glenn Willis Restaurant from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Events * First Meeting: August 3, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. • National French Week November 2-5 • French Breakfast sale December 22 • National Foreign Language March 7-11 • Induction ???

  5. Purpose • The aim of this organization is to stimulate interest in the study of French, to promote high standards of scholarship, to reward scholastic achievements, to create enthusiasm for and an understanding of Francophone culture and civilization, to promote and perpetuate international friendship, to reward efforts toward furthering solidarity in the French-speaking world. • The French Honor Society was established through presidential order by the ATF in 1949 and remains affiliated with the parent organization. • Membership is based on scholarship in general and scholarship in French activities and interest, either in a group or as individual.

  6. Duties • The French Honor Society requires all its members to pay $10.00 dues each year to cover the cost of refreshments, which are served at meetings and events. • FHS members have to complete 10 service hours by the end of the school year, 5 hours per semester. Students may earn these hours in a variety of ways, for example: • Attending the society’s meetings • Staying after to tutor other students in the French language • Helping out at our annual breakfast sale • Participating in fundraising activities • Participating in and attending the induction ceremony held for new members • Staying after to help French teachers and organizing activities.

  7. Calendar of events • Thursday, August 24, 2006 • Collection of dues • Vote on fundraising events for end-of-year trip. • Landscaping project • Overnight trip to Biltmore, NC
