The South Foundation Hall Classroom Improvement Project focuses on upgrading the 13 general-purpose classrooms on the first floor of South Foundation Hall (SFH) at Oakland University. With a budget of $522,000, the project aims to enhance both the physical and technological environments. Scheduled for renovation from May 2 to August 31, 2005, it will improve lighting, flooring, and classroom furniture, and elevate all classrooms to Level III technology standards. These enhancements will provide a modern and effective learning space for over 1,800 students daily.

OU General Purpose Classrooms • There are 101 general purpose classrooms (GPC) located in 11 buildings • 60 GPC are located in buildings built between 1959 and 1970 • GPC receive basic maintenance • GPC upgrades have been limited due to a lack of improvement funds • Instructional technology service to most of the older classrooms is provided on a mobile delivery basis
Why South Foundation Hall (SFH)? • South Foundation Hall houses the highest number (37) of general purpose classrooms • SFH is the most heavily utilized classroom building with over 1,800 students in the building during any given class period • 31 SFH classrooms are equipped at a Level I technology standard which means resources are provided on a delivery basis • Begins to address the need for improvements and upgrades to existing general purpose classrooms

SOUTH FOUNDATION HALL CLASSROOM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT OUTCOME • Physical improvements include lighting, painting of all classrooms, corridor and stairwells, new floors and new classroom furniture • Technological improvements include all 13 first floor classrooms with the current Level III standard • Look and feel of a new first floor and stairwells • Faculty and Students will see the difference
SOUTH FOUNDATION HALL CLASSROOM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT TIMELINE • Renovations are scheduled to begin Monday, May 2, 2005. • Completion expected before Wednesday, August 31, 2005. • Fall 2005 classes begin Wednesday, August 31 at 5:00pm.
