  2. Post-Reorganization Meeting Survey • 1 survey response was submitted, post our meetings on October 2-3, 2013 • Input on nomenclature and request for organizational chart

Consultations • In order to ensure correct procedures are followed, I have run our plan and next steps for moving forward past the following people: • Dan Webb, Head of Human Resources • Bryan Samuels, Head of Equity and Diversity • Jerald Ainsworth, Provost and Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs

  4. Terminology, part 1 • Unit Leader / Department Head • What we were calling Unit Head during our most recent meeting will be called Department Head as this is the UTC standard. • There are two department head positions post-reorganization: • Department Head for Research and Public Services • Department Head for Collection Services

  5. Terminology, part 2 • Team Leaders – what we were calling Team Leaders, will be the official title for the positions. • There are seven Team Leader positions post-reorganization: • Instruction • Commons • Studio • Circulation • Interlibrary Loan • Manuscripts and Archives • Acquisition and Access

Terminology, part 3 • Council • Service on the group is by virtue of position • Administrative Council • Management Council • Projects and Information Technology Council • Committee • Chair is by virtue of position, membership is appointed faculty and staff that may rotate • Electronic Resource Committee • Outreach Committee • Staff Development Committee • OCLC Committee • Task Force • Project based and temporary • Web • Internal Library Building

New positions • New Positions and Internal Recruitments • New jobs will be advertised internally, unless someone was hired specifically to fill the particular role. • Any interested and qualified member of the faculty and staff may apply for positions. • Must submit cover letter and current vita

  8. Next steps, 1 - 2 • Step 1 • TL will draft and distribute job descriptions for Department Heads • Step 2 • TL will meet with librarians currently serving in positions considered Team Leader positions • Studio = Bo • Commons = Nicole

Next Steps, 3 - 4 • Step 3 • Appoint Department Heads • Step 4 • TL and newly appointed Department Heads will set up 3 meetings. • The purpose of the meeting is to answer any lingering reorganization questions and discuss moving ahead. • Meeting 1: all staff members working in the Administrative Services Department • Meeting 2: all staff members working in the Collection Services Department • Meeting 3: all staff members working in the Research and Public Services Department

  10. Next Steps, 5 – 6 • Step 6 • TL to draft and distribute job descriptions for Team Leader positions • Step 6 • Appoint Team Leaders

  11. Happening Simultaneously TL will work on creating and/or updating charts for all the areas listed below: • Functions • Reporting • Communication • Groups

Implementation • When department heads, team leaders, and new groups are in place, we will designate an official implementation date: • Other items we will be continue to work on: • Review / update all job descriptions for title and content • Work with departments on continued evolution of structure based on unique goals and mission. • Work with departments as some position responsibilities will most likely shift as work practices and routines are established. • Library citizenship / accountability • Liaison responsibilities Please be patient, this is a work in progress and subject to change
