Factory Install Procedure (Done by Symantec Factory before the delivery) • Factory Setup Done in 2 Ways • PXE/TFTP Server • The PXE/TFTP server must be configured to serve the content of the DVD • The install is unattended once the PXE/TFTP server is configured and the install is kicked off • DVD • The factory install step logs everything to a file • /var/log/pdos_postinstall.log • At the end of the installation a visual confirmation will show up if correctly installed NBU 5000 Appliance TOI

  13. Perform this procedure to change IP address • If your site does not use DHCP, you need to provide network information manually for each appliance. The following procedure explains how to specify network information. • On the laptop computer, start a browser, and type the following URL into the address field: • http://192.168.1.1/ChangeIP • For address, type the IP address for this appliance that you obtained from your network administrator. • On the NetBackup PureDisk Configuration page, complete the following fields and click Submit: • Username Type: root • Password Type: root NBU 5000 Appliance TOI

ChangeIP continued • Type the IP address for this BackupStore that you obtained from your network administrator. • IP Address • Netmask • Gateway • (Optional) Type the IP address of your site's primary DNS server. • DNS Server • (Optional) Type the IP address of your site's secondary DNS server. • DNS Server 2 (Optional) Click Submit. Tips • Set your notebook to 192.168.1.X where X is anything except 1 • Do this with the “ssh” Restricted Shell, login “sysadmin” • Fully Qualifier Domain Name “FQDN” • If you don’t have one that is setup and functioning then put in a /etc/hosts file. • If you don’t the install will force you to have one • Disable DNS • Network => dns => disable NBU 5000 Appliance TOI

Troubleshooting Principles and Methods • The troubleshooting process should conform to the following principles: • From outside to inside During system troubleshooting, first troubleshoot external devices, including cables and customer's devices, and whether any device is powered off. • Analyzing common alarms first and then special ones To deal with alarms, first analyze whether the alarms reflect a common problem or a special problem, thus determining the scope of influence. You also need to determine whether the problem is specific to one module or common to multiple modules. • Alarm analysis • When a system fails, generally, a great number of alarms are generated. By viewing such alarms and analyzing performance data, you can roughly determine the type and location of the fault. • Replacement method • This is a method with which the engineer replaces a part that may work improperly with a good one for the purpose of locating and rectifying the fault.
