Purpose of the PT3 Program Developing future teachers who know how to use modern learning technologies to improve student learning is a major challenge facing our nation's teacher preparation system. PT3 grants support innovative program improvements to prepare technology-proficient educators for 21st century schools.

UNT PT3Capacity Building Initiatives • Provide resources, support and equipment for teacher educators in the COE • Technology Guides/Team Teachers • Laptop computers/Projection systems • Knowledge and support to find resources to support courses • Partnering with school districts and educational entities to provideauthentic experiences for preservice students

  4. Initiatives (con’t) • Educate and encourage non-credentialed para-professionals to become certified to teach • Upgrade teacher education courses to provide modeling in the use of technology • Provide two-way mentoring from preservice technology experts to veteran classsroom teachers

  5. Brief Summary of Outcomes • Five content area teams formed • Six tech guides hired to upgrade methods courses • Three technology and curriculum experienced team teachers hired to work with faculty • Technology integration mentoring course initiated
