3 For the last 20+ years, Magid has been serving broadcasters, publishers, cable networks, gaming, wireless, retailers, consumer products companies, and Internet clients throughout North America, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and the Far East. Magid has conducted quantitative and qualitative research online, on the phone, and on the ground in addition to qualitative research in markets as diverse as: UK, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Russia, Finland, Norway, Israel, Canada, Japan, Korea, China, India, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil and has experience in at least a dozen other countries. 4Magid Experience — Breadth Of Country Experience Our international work has included: Launching commercial networks in Finland, Greece, Israel, Norway, Malaysia, Portugal, and Singapore. We conducted a series of quantitative studies across the populations of these countries as well as focus groups, which helped inform the development of the networks. Working with public broadcasters in Canada, the UK, Germany, Finland, New Zealand, and Portugal as well as with the first station to launch in South Africa post-Apartheid. These engagements included extensive analysis of the TV watching behavior of these countries’ populations. Repositioning newspapers across the UK using qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Assisting cable networks with overseas launches in Poland, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and Spain. These projects involved large-scale qualitative research studies to identify opportunities for new cable and satellite networks. Supporting the marketing of video games in Europe (Germany, the UK, Italy, France, Spain) and Asia. Research included quantitative studies as well as focus groups and was conducted for major franchises such as Harry Potter. This has been repeated five times in the past seven years. Consulting on Internet initiatives in the Canada, UK, Japan, Germany, and Spain. Over the years we have conducted quantitative and qualitative research across 30 countries in 16 languages. Your team will get to experience breaking news while learning the intricacies to truly master the ins and outs of a developing situation. The Magid Faculty will simulate a breaking news event that could realistically happen in your market and your entire team from managers to producers, directors, and talent are involved. 13Amanda PurdumDirector, Communications Consultation and Strategy Amanda Purdum leads our dynamic team of communication strategists specializing in media and corporate communications. As a Communications Specialist, Amanda uses her expertise to help clients become highly effective communicators with close attention paid to their messaging, storytelling, and verbal and non-verbal communication. Amanda takes great pride in coaching some of the highest rated news and entertainment talent at both a national and local level. She is also proud to coach top executives at some of the country’s largest, most well known brands. Clients turn to Amanda and her team to help improve front-line communications and to protect their brand and reputation in times of crisis. Prior to joining Frank N. Magid Associates, Inc. in 2006, Amanda spent more than a decade in local news serving in many different capacities including news director. 14Jeff PufferSenior Communications Consultant In his role as Senior Communications Consultant Jeff works with local television talent all over the world to sharpen their communications skills. Jeff’s two and a half decades with Frank N. Magid Associates has taken him all over the world. He has conducted training abroad in Europe and Asia with U.S. military broadcasters (AFNews), and coached talent in eight countries besides the U.S. Stateside Jeff’s worked with owned-and-operated stations for two U.S. networks. He has coached thousands of local television talent, many whom have become household names at both a local and national level. Jeff is the developer of The Imperative Technique, a proprietary communications skills development tool that is the core training technique at Frank N. Magid Associates. Prior to joining Frank N. Magid Associates in 1985, Jeff was on staff at the Eastern Illinois University Radio-Television Center. He is an experienced radio news producer, talk show host, disc jockey, copywriter, and commercial voiceover talent. Jeff holds a master’s degree in speech communication. 15Julie SeeboldCommunications Consultant Julie Seebold takes great pride in motivating talent in both her role as a Communications Specialist and Television Consultant. She works with anchors, reporters, meteorologists, and sports personalities across the U.S. and Canada to improve engagement and strengthen delivery on-set and in the field. She is trained to teach The Imperative Technique. When she is not coaching or consulting, Julie provides workflow analysis for her clients. Her expertise in this area gives Julie an edge when it comes to helping talent use their time most effectively. Julie is masterful at prioritizing the talent’s responsibilities while keeping their performance a priority. Before joining Magid, Julie was news director at KCRG-TV where she earned an Emmy for Station Excellence. Julie has a B.A. in journalism and political science from the University of Minnesota. 16Tim SeymourCommunications Consultant Tim Seymour joined Frank N. Magid Associates after 20 successful years in local news. Tim draws on his own experiences on the desk, in the field, and as a newsroom leader to help television talent connect with viewers and stand out in a competitive field. Tim understands the demands on talent to do more than just deliver the news. He works with anchors and reporters to truly understand the evolution of their positions. Tim also uses his reporting experience to work with our executive communications consultation business. By the time Tim is finished training executives they feel more comfortable and confident taking questions in front of the camera. In his two decades in the business, Tim has worked on-air in Albany, GA, Louisville, Minneapolis, and Cedar Rapids, IA. Tim is an award-winning anchor, reporter, and executive producer. He holds a B.S. in journalism from Ohio University. He lives in Cedar Rapids with his wife and three children. Study # Month/Year
