The Mayans were skilled farmers who cultivated crops like corn, beans, and squash. They used timber from the jungle to construct homes and temples. Family was vital, and children helped with chores. They had a complex religion, worshipping heroes, deities, and ancestors. The Mayans developed advanced road systems, a unique writing system, and a mathematical system based on the number 20. However, environmental issues like overusing the land and drought, along with conflicts, led to the decline of their civilization.
