  4. TASK 1 • Food poisoning (n): an illness of the stomach caused by eating food that contains harmful bacteria • Fine (n): cash paid as punishment • Get lost: unable to find a way • Carsick (adj): feeling sick because of a car’s movement Ex: Do you get carsick?

  5. Situation Last week Nga’s class went on an excursion to Huong Pagoda. Unfortunately, the excursion turned out to be a disaster. Most of the things they did went wrong. Combine the things in column A with the correspoding consequences in column B

  6. Task 2: Situation: Imagine that you are Nga’s classmates & you are not happy with the excursion to Huong Pagoda. Now you are talking with some friends about what you wish you had or hadn’t done.

  7. Structure: Conditional sentence type 3 If + S + had + V3/ed, S + would/ could+ have +V3/ed Examples: If we hadn’t gone by coach, we wouldn’t havegot carsick. If we had gone by bike, we wouldn’t havegot carsick.

  8. 1. If we had brought enough food and drinks, we would not have spent a lot of money eating in expensive restaurants. 2. If some of us had not had food poisoning, we would have enjoyed our visit. 3.If we had had raincoats, we would not have got wet and have got a cold. 4. If some of us had not left our luggage on the coach when we arrived, we would have had clothes and money with us

  9. 5. If we had been careful when walking in Huong Pagoda, we would not have got lost. 6. If we had not thrown waste in the forest, we would not have got a fine. 7.If we has stayed there more than one day, we would have been able to visit all the pagodas.

  10. Task 3 • Work in pairs. • One of you is Nga & the other is one of Nga’s friends who studies in another school. • Asks & answer the excursion.

  11. Example Nga’s friend: Last Saturday, I phoned you but you weren’t at home. Your dad said that you were going on an excursion. Where did you go? Nga: I went to Huong Pagoda with my class. Nga’s friend: Really? Was that fun? Nga: Not really.

  12. Nga’s friend: Why so? Nga: Most of the things we did went wrong. Nga’s friend: Tell me, how did you go there? ….

  13. Home work • Do the tasks again. • Practise to tell a story about your excursion. • Repair the next part.
