SAFETY RULES • Always listen carefully to the teacher and follow instructions. • Do not run in the workshop, you could ‘bump’ into another pupil and cause an accident. • Know where the emergency stop buttons are positioned in the workshop. • Wear good strong shoes. • When attempting practical work all stools should be put away. • Bags should not be brought into a workshop. • Do not use a machine if you have not been shown how to operate it safely by the teacher. • Always be patient, never rush in the workshop. • Always use a guard when working on a machine.

A fixture may be used to locate parts for welding if multiple elements have been ordered. • FABRICATION ; when used as an industrial term, applies to the building of machines, structures and other equipment, by cutting, shaping and assembling components made from raw materials.

WHAT CAUSE IT TO GO WRONG? • Didn’t use personal protective equipment (PPE). • Didn’t have any fire extinguisher. • Didn’t remove any accessories during operating any machine such as necklace, bracelets etc. • Smoking at the workshop. • Some equipments improper placing. • Sit on the machines • Incomplete safety equipment. • Wet and dirty floor.

WHAT CAN BE DONE TO PREVENT IT? • Use personal protective equipment (PPE). • Have any fire extinguisher. • Remove any accessories during operating any machine such as necklace, bracelets etc. • No smoking in the workshop. • The equipments must proper placing. • Do not sit on the machines • Good housekeeping practice • Behave at workshop.
